Our app allows you to pre-order your food to avoid the hassles of queuing, waiting for food and paying the bill.
CEO of NovoHub, as a startup investor and a successful serial entrepreneur, wanted to develop the an app that will disrupt the hospitality industry and offer a new way of generating profits for his restaurant group.
Due to the unique needs of the project, they needed a reliable partner who understands internal business process and phases of startup development able to create an app that is simple, has clean, well designed and modern interface while maintaining the functionality and ease of use. In addition, the solution had to be fast and offer high quality of takeout service using mobile responsive web technologies while making queuing orders simple for restaurant employees.
LKnet was selected by NovoHub as a perfect fit not only offering technological expertise, but also familiarity with internal business processes, experience in startup development and transparency of the process.
The entire platform was built from scratch, adjusted to client's needs on the go and unique on the market.
It took us 1 month to build the minimal viable product which received first customers placing orders on the very first day, so after this test phase we upgraded the platform based on the feedback from the market. We also implemented Braintree, a payment processing provider compliant with all legislation in USA, NovoHub’s target market.
The greatest challenge faced during the project was how to establish and implement real-time 3-way communication between the person placing the order, the person receiving the order and the person delivering the food.
In order to overcome this challenge, LKnet team visited the customer in USA on several occasions, so we could better understand the process and see the end-user experience live. The practical experience showed that the issue was with the very busy restaurant staff who often missed the orders placed, so we introduced full screen visual and sound popup notifications built on Pusher open source tool to bridge the gap and make sure kitchen staff doesn’t miss orders.
The project was initiated in Sep 2015 and our cooperation with NovoHub is still ongoing.
The same team has been working on the project from the beginning, comprised of 2 senior backend developers, 2 frontend developers, a designer, a server administrator, a tester and a project manager.
NovoHub website is a simple customer-to-restaurant and vice versa web application.
Very simple and attractive interface now makes the whole food ordering process very convenient for both customers and restaurant managers. There were several instances of new users placing big orders through the app demonstrating the trust generated by the friendly UI, UX and design.
Restaurants using NovoHub opened a new sales channel driving 10-15% incremental takeout revenue and attracting new visitors.
The implementation and integration of multiple payment systems that can serve a number of markets and functions can be time consuming and complex.
As an owner several popular restaurants, I realized that I needed to have stronger digital presence.
